EBAY CARD SCAM - WARNING TO ALL USERS
Basically I got from Ebay messaging service in my secondary email official look-alike email (actually sent by private buyer) stating that I sold an item but money cannot be transferred and my account is temporary locked until I verify my credit card or provide my personal documents with picture. In first minutes you cannot distinguish that it is email from user and not from Ebay service and that is entirely fault of Ebay programmers and their email filters! (Ok nothing odd so far from Ebay service) .When you open email in Ebay massages you cannot still figure out that this is from private sender and not from Ebay...
This email came from France and all visible tracks pointed to Ebay France...
Than first odd thing that Ebay link don't work, but hey, maybe it is a small Ebays server mistake...
User manually copy paste provided verification link. Link transfers you to www.myebay.digital/trasfer site or something similar (still nothing suspicious)
Site is usually looking something like this:
* unfortunately I have to draw it manually in Paint from my memory since I didn't get screen shoot on time and scammers removed their site in few hours but I can assure you that it looked very legit.
Than user clicks blue button in order to verify credit card. After that Blue rectangular popup field opens and you have to enter all your credit card info and (first odd and alarming thing!) your actual money bank balance for that card in last field. Of-course if you don't have small daily limit like I have, scammers will try to withdraw your entire money in one take. Site is assuring you that this is new Ebays policy in order to stop scammers. (Now red lights are starting to appear but I still proceeded!?) Ebay usually withdraws 1$ or 2$ from new credit cards and immediately transfers back your money in order to verify new card, but newer asks you to enter entire bank balance!
Only thing that saved me from loss was that they had big lag on their scamming server maybe due thousands of users sending their card data in same moment(?).
Minutes later I realized that there is something seriously wrong with this site and decided that my card is compromised, called my bank, annulled my card and flagged user and wrote email to Ebay service. Few hours later scammers removed web site and disappeared. Days later of-course, nobody from Ebay contacted me or apologized for my loss...
In this moment this is only and most comprehensive blog warning on internet about this kind of scams.
So be warned and GBY!
